Men's Jaeger-Lecoultre Watches

Women's Jaeger-Lecoultre Watches

Watch movements at their most basic - blanks - are called ebauches. They are purchased by watch manufacturers who add their own refinements and proprietary complications.

Luxury watch manufacturers have been buying Swiss-made LeCoultre ebauches since 1833, when Antoine LeCoultre, a brilliant inventor and self-taught watchmaker, opened his first workshop. In 1847 he created a revolutionary system to do away with the need for keys to rewind and set watches.

LeCoultre merged with Edmond Jaeger, who made chronometers, in 1903 and became known as Jaeger-LeCoultre. The company became famous for the Calibre 101, the smallest watch movement in the world, when it was introduced in 1929. It had 74 parts and weighed barely one gram.

In 1931 the company introduced the Reverso, a watch with a swivel system that allows the wearer to flip the case over to protect the crystal and the face (this was in response to British officers in India who didn't want to damage their watches while playing polo!). The Reverso is recognized as an icon of luxury watchmaking, retaining its classic Art Deco style to this day.

In addition to the Reverso line (which includes chronographs, 2nd time zones, automatic, and other models - Grande, Duo, Classique, Lady, Duetto, Squadra), Jaeger-LeCoultre lines include Duometre (the ultimate chronograph), Master Control (with more than a dozen impressive modesl), Master Compressor (sport and diving models), AMVOX ( a series of specialized watches including Tourbillon, DBS, chronograph), Haute Joaillerie (fine jewelry watches for ladies and men), and the ATMOS clock line. The company's "Horological Excellence" models feature fantastic complications.
