Universal Geneve Watches

Universal Geneve was founded in 1894 and specialized in making complicated watches. In 1898 they presented the Universal Watch Extra, a chronograph pocket watch, with their first wrist-worn chronograph coming in 1917. In the late 1920s the company launched the Cabriolet, its first reversible watch.
In 1934 the company moved to Geneva, and created the double push-button Compur chronograph wristwatch. Next came the well-known Compax line of watches, which over the years grew to include the Uni-Compax, Aero-Compax, the Medico-Compax, and the Tri-Compax. The Tri-Compax included a complete calendar and moon phases. It is one of the most sought-after chronographs and is considered a masterpiece of Swiss watch-making.
Universal Watch Co. Ltd. was renamed Universal Geneve in 1937, the same year it created the smallest ladies' chronograph wristwatch of its era.
Other important watches produced by Universal Geneve over the years include the Polerouter (developed from the watches worn by SAS pilots on an historic 1957 flight over the North Pole), the Microtor UG 66, the Mocrotor UG100, the Calibre UG 101, the Microtor Cabriolet, Calibre 138, and the Golden Shadow (the world's thinnest quartz calibre movement at the time of introduction in 1975).
Other watches for which Universal Geneve is known include the Uni-Timer, Timer Chronograph, the Okeanos series (Compax, Aero-Compax, Moon-Timer, Traveler, Chronograph), and Anthea (132 Diamond, 71 Diamond, 46 Diamond, and 42 Diamond).
Universal Geneve was nicknamed "the watch couturier" in the 1940s because of the combination of elegrance, style and technical sophistication of its timepieces, a tradition that continues to this day.
